EU Parliament wants talks with Moscow on EU-Kiev association
MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- The European Parliament is ready to negotiate with Moscow a Kiev–Brussels association, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Elmar Brok, said at a meeting with the State Duma, the lower chamber of Russian parliament, on Friday.
“As for the trade agreement: this is a right of sovereign states to conclude them, but we will not accept such an agreement if Russia provides no clear points of this free trade agreement with Ukraine, which directly affect Russia,” he said.
“We are ready to discuss all harmful and practical results of the agreement, which will influence Russia.”
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a ruling to suspend a free trade agreement between the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Ukraine from January 1, 2016.
